Dowell, Wiegand Receive SLIAC Academic Honor

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Eureka College basketball players Tatum Dowell (Morton, Ill./Morton H.S./MaMurray) and Alex Wiegand (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S.) have been named to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Winter All-Academic Team, the league office announced Thursday morning.

Students must be at least a sophomore in academic standing, have attended their current institution for one full academic year and have a 3.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) to be eligible for the SLIAC All-Academic Team.

Dowell, a junior secondary education/history major, made 15 reserve appearances for the Red Devils this season. Wiegand is a sophomore accounting major and started all 25 contests for EC, averaging 7.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He shot 59 percent from the field.
