    Vogel Slugs Eureka to SLIAC Split With Blackburn EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka College junior first baseman Ray Vogel (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone H.S.) smashed two home runs Friday and junior left-hander Isaiah Taylor (Princeton, Ill./Princeton H.S./Illinois Valley) pitched 6.0 strong innings to earn his first EC victory, lifting the Red Devils to an 8-7 win over Blackburn in the second game of Friday’s St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Henry Sand Field. The Beavers won game one, 7-0.

    Notebook: Eureka Begins SLIAC Play Friday EUREKA, Ill. – The first four games of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule and a road test at Division I Bradley highlight this week’s schedule for the Eureka College baseball team. The Red Devils will host Blackburn Friday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader before Principia visits Henry Sand Field for two contests Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. The Red Devils will visit Bradley Sunday at 1 p.m. in nearby Peoria.

    Red Devils Notch Split With RMU-Springfield EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka College baseball team scored six times in the first three innings in the opener of Saturday’s non-conference doubleheader with USCAA Robert Morris-Springfield, setting the tone for an 8-3 victory over the Eagles. RMU recovered for a 6-5 win in game two to salvage a Saturday split.

    Eureka Ends Spring Trip With Losses at Louisiana College PINEVILLE, La. – The Eureka College baseball team played the final two games of its seven-game spring trip through the south on Sunday, dropping both games of a non-conference doubleheader to Louisiana College in the finale of the Marler Ford Classic in Pineville, La. The Wildcats took the opener, 11-0, and also won game two, 12-2.

    Eureka Roars Past Rust in Opener, 27-1 HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Eureka College baseball team erupted for 27 runs in Sunday’s season opener, including a 16-run seventh inning, to defeat NCAA Division III independent Rust 27-1 in Holly Springs, Miss. The 27 runs scored and 26-run margin of victory were the largest on record in program history.

    Red Devils Begin Season-Opening Spring Trip Sunday HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Eureka College baseball team will begin the fourth season of the Kim Johnson coaching era Sunday when the Red Devils open their spring trip with a noon doubleheader against NCAA Division III independent Rust in Holly Springs, Miss. EC is scheduled to play nine times overall across Mississippi and Louisiana before returning to campus.

    SLIAC Baseball Poll Tabs Eureka Fifth in West Division ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A preseason poll conducted by St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball head coaches has tabbed Eureka College fifth in the league’s West Division, according to an announcement from the league office last week. Defending regular-season league champion Webster was picked as the top team in the West and Greenville was voted first in the East Division.
