Greg Head Family Team Room a Multipurpose Asset for EC Athletics

EUREKA – Eureka College student-athletes have had a new space to meet, prepare for games and socialize this year.

The Greg Head Family Team Room, located on the second floor of the Reagan Athletic Complex, was completed in the fall of 2018.

Once a classroom and, more recently, the Red Devils' weight room, the Greg Head Family Team Room now fills multiple needs for the EC athletic department. It's the department's largest meeting space, and it features state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment, EC-branded furniture, artwork and various conference championship and NCAA tournament and playoff banners.

The football team regularly spent time in there preparing for game day this past fall en route to the team's second straight NCAA Division III playoff berth. The men's basketball team used it extensively for meeting, studying film, recruiting, scouting reports and team meals during this winter's journey to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.

It's quickly become a valuable asset to the entire department — and another symbol of EC's growing athletic success.

An El Paso native and a 2003 graduate of Eureka College, Greg Head was a standout on the Red Devils' defense for head coaches Nick Fletcher and Darrell Crouch. A two-time All-Illini-Badger Football Conference selection at linebacker, Head was a feared and versatile defender against both the run and the pass. He earned multiple IBFC Defensive Player of the Week awards, ranked among the IBFC leaders in tackles for loss as a senior, and his seven interceptions over his final two seasons (2001-02) are tied for seventh-most among EC defenders in the 21st century.

A dedicated supporter of Eureka College football, Head is a sales manager at Heller Ford Dealership in El Paso, where he has worked since he was in high school in 1999. He lives in Bloomington with his wife, Jami, and daughters, Falyn and Avery.
