  • Eureka College Announces 2018 Hall of Fame Class

    EUREKA – The Eureka College Department of Athletics is proud to introduce its 2018 Hall of Fame Class. Ryan Brewster '96 (football, baseball) and James Humphrey '65 (men's basketball) will join former women's basketball head coach Sandy Schuster (1991-07) and former softball head coach Karen Sweitzer (1991-2008) as individuals voted into the Hall of Fame. The 1975 men's golf team and the 1978-79 men's basketball team will be enshrined as teams and Eureka College History Professor Emeritus Dr. Richard Sanders will be inducted as an honorary member. The group will be formally inducted during an Oct. 6 ceremony at 8:30 a.m. at the Reagan Athletic Complex.

    WAUKESHA, Wis. – Eureka College senior running back Le’Anthony Reasnover (Momence, Ill./Momence H.S.) has been named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning. Reasnover compiled 258 all-purpose yards and scored all five touchdowns in Eureka’s 34-12 non-conference win over Finlandia at McKinzie Field.

    EUREKA – Le’Anthony Reasnover (Momence, Ill./Momence H.S.) scored all five touchdowns, Antonio Greenwood (Momence, Ill./Momence H.S.) recorded a sack and an interception and the Eureka College football team opened the season 3-0 for the first time since 1991 in a 34-12 victory over Finlandia as part of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Challenge Series, Saturday afternoon at McKinzie Field.

    WAUKESHA, Wis. – Eureka College sophomore linebacker Logan Noel (Westville, Ill./Westville H.S.) has been chosen Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning. Noel had six tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and a sack in the Red Devils’ 38-6 non-conference rout of Iowa Wesleyan last Saturday night.

    EUREKA – Le’Anthony Reasnover (Momence, Ill./Momence H.S.) ran for 159 yards and scored a first-quarter touchdown to become the program’s all-time leading scorer, Drew Barth (Minonk, Ill./Fieldcrest H.S.) racked up 221 yards of total offense and a swarming defense combined for 14 tackles for loss, sending the Eureka College football team to a convincing 38-6 non-conference victory over Iowa Wesleyan, Saturday night at McKinzie Field.

Kuhne was perfect on seven extra-point attempts in the Red Devils’ 49-24 win at Knox last Saturday.

    GALESBURG, Ill. -- The Eureka College football team rolled up 519 yards of total offense -- its third 500-yard game since 2015 -- on its way to a 49-24 non-conference rout of Knox in the seventh annual Lincoln Bowl in Galesburg, Ill. The final 25-point margin marked Eureka's most lopsided win in the series with the Prairie Fire since a 41-7 victory in Galesburg on Sept. 7, 1991.

Defending champion Lakeland received 12 of a possible 16 first-place votes for 123 points to be chosen as the preseason favorite.

The four-day camp for youths ages seven through 13 will begin Monday, June 19 and run through Thursday, June 22. The camp will last from 9 a.m. until noon each day.

Eureka, the only Upper Midwest Athletic Conference member to receive votes and one of only five schools from the state of Illinois to appear on a ballot, received two votes in the final AFCA poll.

Reasnover ran for 252 yards and broke his own single-game school record with seven rushing touchdowns in the Red Devils’ 63-26 victory at Martin Luther that clinched the league’s outright championship.

    NEW ULM, Minn. – The Eureka College football team defeated Martin Luther 63-26 Saturday in New Ulm, Minn. to secure the outright Upper Midwest Athletic Conference championship and its first trip to the NCAA playoffs. The Red Devils are league champions for the first time since winning the Illini-Badger Football Conference crown in 1995.
