MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The historic season from Eureka College junior guard Shea Feehan (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame H.S.) received more national recognition Monday when Feehan was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week.
The Team of the Week presented by Scoutware is D3hoops.com's weekly honor roll, in its 21st season of recognizing the top performance at each of the five positions from the previous week. He was joined by Loras's Josh Ruggles, Austin's Justice Mercadel, Nebraska Wesleyan's Cooper Cook and SUNY-Maritime's Patrick McDonald.
Feehan, who was picked for the D3hoops.com All-Central Region Third Team last winter, put up back-to-back 40-point games on the road last week against SLIAC opponents. His 47-point performance Saturday at Greenville marked the fifth time in his career he has reached 40.
Already named to the Bevo Francis Award Watch List, Feehan is in the midst of one of the most productive offensive seasons in Eureka men's basketball history. He is averaging 32.1 points per game, more than five full points better than his own single-season record of 26.7 established as a sophomore last season. Feehan is on pace to surpass Chris Peterson's single-season Eureka total points record of 653 set in 1993-94 and has a shot at becoming the first Eureka player to reach 700 points in a season in program history.
Feehan will enter Wednesday's game against MacMurray ranked seventh on EC's all-time scoring list with 1,441 points. He trails Greg Nunn (1984-87) by 23 points for sixth place and will likely become just the sixth player in program history and the first since EC Hall of Famer Craig Negangard in 2004 to score 1,500 career points later this month.
Feehan also ranks fifth all-time at Eureka with 178 career 3-pointers and second on the Red Devils' modern-era free throw list with 361 career makes.
