BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Three days before the 2021 spring men's basketball season begins for Eureka, the Red Devils have been selected to finish sixth in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The poll, which was conducted by league men's basketball coaches, was released to the public on Wednesday afternoon, and had EC tallying the sixth-most votes with 22.
Three teams received first-place votes, with Fontbonne topping the field with 45 and three first-place votes. Westminster is second with 38 and two first-place votes, followed closely by Greenville with 36 and two first-place votes and Webster with 36 but no first-place votes.
Blackburn was just ahead of EC with 24, and Iowa Wesleyan and Spalding trailed behind with 13 and 10, respectively.
Eureka returns several players with starting experience from the team narrowly missed the SLIAC Tournament field last season, including Jalen Hosea (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods), Jaedon Banks (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Heights) and Ian Milsteadt (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria), as well as key guard Chris Daniels (Peoria, Ill./Peoria)
