EUREKA — The dates for the 2019 Eureka men's soccer season have been set.
It's only a matter of time before the Red Devils will be back on the pitch.
Eureka's 2019 slate features 15 matches, including nine St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contests and seven home dates.
The Red Devils' 13th NCAA Division III season will be the sixth under the direction of Dwain Barker, the winningest coach in the history of the program. For the third year in a row, the Red Devils will play their home matches both on the grass at Traister Field and on the turf at McKinzie Field, under the lights of Pete FioRito Stadium.
It will all kick off with a home match against Emmaus on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 1:30 p.m.
The Red Devils will host St. Mary-of-the-Woods for Labor Day on Sept. 2 at 5 p.m. and hold five SLIAC matches in October.
Senior Night is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 31 against Spalding at 5 p.m.
Eureka is set to return to nine players from last year's 7-10 squad.
"We will have a good mix of players for our upcoming season," Barker said. "I believe we shouldn't have an issue with team chemistry in the first few weeks leading up to conference games. I have seen dedication and togetherness from our returning players in the spring. Nothing I have seen in the past. I know that our boys have and are looking to leave a respectable legacy for the soccer program here at Eureka College. I know that they are looking forward to sending a positive message to our conference. Being an "underdog" has seemed to drive them to become better, and as a coach, that's all I can ask for at this time."
