
NORMAL, Ill. – The Eureka College women's basketball team played its lone exhibition game of the 2017-18 season on Wednesday night, falling short in an 80-54 decision at NCAA Division I Illinois State in Normal, Ill.
Eureka trailed 15-12 after one quarter and 40-29 at halftime.
Hayley Reneau (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S./Illinois Central) and Samantha Sarnes (Havana, Ill./Havana H.S.) shared the team lead with 16 points apiece. Kennedy Dura (Edwards, Ill./Brimfield H.S.) reached double figures with 10 points for the visitors, who went 20-for-59 from the field and knocked down 10 3-pointers.
Illinois State shot 52 percent (29-for-56) and received a game-high 24 points off the bench from Hannah Green. The Redbirds outrebounded the visitors, 37-28, and held a 30-12 advantage in points scored in the paint.
Eureka will begin the regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 15 in a 5:30 p.m. start at Knox in Galesburg, Ill.
