EUREKA — Eureka College women's basketball coach Amos Arbogast announced the addition of three incoming freshmen on Wednesday.

Lauren Ausmus (Goodfield, Ill./Eureka), Whitney Bozarth (Normal, Ill./Normal West) and Jadyn Mitchell (Flanagan, Ill./Flanagan-Cornell) will soon join the program and have four years of eligibility at EC.

Ausmus, a 5-11 forward, joins the maroon and gold after four successful years at Eureka High School, in which the Hornets made three deep postseason runs, including a Class 2A state tournament appearance in 2018. As a senior, she led the squad in rebounding, received Second Team All-HOIC honors, was selected to the St. Bede All-Tournament team and qualified for the IHSA Class 2A 3-Point Showdown.

Also a volleyball standout, Ausmus' teams made three straight trips to the Elite Eight and captured a state title in 2016.

Bozarth, a 5-6 guard, was a versatile staple for a Normal West squad that tallied more wins each season she was in the program. A captain during her senior year, she helped the Wildcats earn back-to-back regional championship game appearances in 2018 and 2019.

This past spring, she was a key factor in Normal West snagging a Big 12 Conference indoor track title a year after winning the conference outdoor title. Bozarth holds the school record in long jump with a leap of 17-6.

Mitchell, Flanagan-Cornell's third all-time leading scorer, is heading to Eureka following a record-setting career with the Falcons. The 5-4 guard racked up 1,413 points, holding the highest scoring average in a Flanagan-Cornell season of 21.24 and setting HOIC records for most points scored in a single game (51), most 3-pointers made in a single game (10), most 3-pointers made in a tournament (13) and most field goals made in a single game (17).

The back-to-back team MVP and 2018-2019 captain was also the IHSA Class 1A 3-Point Showdown State Champion this season, tying for second in the state in the Queen of the Hill Showdown. Among her other honors were being selected as a member of the All-HOIC First Team, Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-State Third Team and IBCA All-Star Team, and receiving AP All-State Honorable Mention.
