EUREKA – Eureka women's soccer coach Shelby Chrisman-Forza is adding a pair of new faces to her program.

The second-year coach announced Thursday that Christian Rodriguez and Rian James are joining the Red Devils as assistant coaches this season.

"I am so excited about the new additions to our coaching staff," Chrisman-Forza said. "Coach Chris brings in a wealth of knowledge from his playing career. Coach Rian brings in years of coaching experience, as well as recruiting experience. Adding this dynamic duo brings in a more diverse knowledge base, and I can't wait to start practicing this fall."

Rodriguez has been coaching youth soccer at the club level since 2014. From 2014 to 2017, he coached U17 and U14 as a head coach and trainer at Adc. Athletico F.C. and has been an assistant and head coach for the Illinois Fire Juniors since 2018.

Prior to that, he had a prolific run as a player. A 2006 graduate of Boca Raton Community High School, Rodriguez worked his way up from  the Schulz Academy International Soccer Program to the Chicago Fire Reserves, where he played from 2007 to 2018. He then played for the semi-pro Miami Fusion F.C. in 2009 and 2010.

James has coached at various levels since 2015, most recently serving as an assistant coach for F.C. Diablos, a Bloomington-based U23 semi-pro team in the United Premier Soccer League, and for the Illinois Fire Juniors.

He was previously the JV coach at Mahomet Seymour High School (2017-2019) and a head coach for the Mahomet Seymour Soccer Club (2018-2019), as well as an assistant coach at Normal Community (2016) and Bloomington (2015).
