ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A league-wide poll conducted by St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball head coaches has selected Eureka College to finish seventh in the conference in 2018, according to an announcement released by the conference office on Friday. Westminster, which won the regular-season crown last season for the first time since before the turn of the century, was picked to repeat as SLIAC champions this fall.
The Blue Jays secured six of the possible 10 first-place votes. Longtime league powers Greenville and Webster were voted second and third, respectively, and each received two first-place votes. Principia slotted fourth, followed by Fontbonne in fifth to round out the top half of the poll.
Spalding, Eureka, Iowa Wesleyan, MacMurray and Blackburn followed in places six through 10.
Eureka will begin season three of the Becca LaKosh coaching era on Friday, Aug. 31 in a pair of non-conferences matches as part of the Buc Blast Tournament in Beloit, Wis. The Red Devils open the campaign at 5 p.m. versus Alma, followed by a 9 p.m. tilt with Olivet.
