Football Downed by Concordia Wisconsin
MEQUON, Wis. – The Eureka football team fell to Concordia Wisconsin 39-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils' defense held strong on the Falcons' first drive, forcing a turnover on downs to keep the game scoreless. However, the Falcons responded by scoring on 6 of their next 8 drives, including 4 touchdowns, establishing a commanding 36-0 lead. From that point forward, Eureka's defense settled in, allowing just 3 points on the Falcons' last 5 offensive possessions of the game. Unfortunately, the Red Devils' offense struggled to gain momentum, resulting in a final score of 39-0.
Derrion Rogers (Elmore City, Okla./Midwest City) recorded a season-high 11 tackles, including 8 solo tackles, leading the Red Devils. Ja'Tyler Lundy (Vienna, Ga./Dooly County) also set a new season-high with 10 tackles, 7 of which were solo. Daniel Parhams (Columbus, Ga./Hardaway) also recorded a season-high with 7 tackles and added a pass break up, while Hansen Johnson (Laplace, La./East St. John) matched his season-high with 7 tackles.
On the offensive side, Eureka recorded 61 yards on 42 plays. Of those yards, 40 came from the passing game on 21 attempts, while 21 yards were gained on the ground with 21 rushing attempts.
Jack Butler (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) led the Red Devils with 4 receptions for 21 yards, including a 12-yard catch, which was the team's biggest offensive play of the day.
Nathanael Vroman (Hilliard, Fla./Hilliard) had a versatile performance, completing 3 of 6 passes for 8 yards, rushing for 19 yards on 7 attempts, and adding 11 receiving yards on 5 receptions.
Braden Tollett (Crossville, Tenn./Cumberland County) made his second start of the season at quarterback, completing 9 of 15 passes for 32 yards.
