EUREKA, Ill. – The Red Devils return home this Saturday for a primetime showdown against Aurora in their first NACC home contest of the season. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at McKinzie Field, where Eureka will look to build on last week's strong road victory over Rockford.

Aurora's 46-game NACC winning streak came to an end last week in a 36-35 home loss to Benedictine. Meanwhile, the Red Devils are riding high after a 40-20 road victory over Rockford, powered by big plays on offense and an aggressive defense that forced four turnovers.

Saturday presents a significant challenge, as the Red Devils host Aurora, who have won the NACC the last six years and have historically dominated the series against Eureka (18-3-1 all-time, 8-2-1 in Eureka). In their last meeting on Nov. 9, 2024, the Spartans rolled to a 56-0 win at McKinzie Field. Both teams enter Saturday night with plenty at stake as Aurora looks to rebound from last week's heartbreaking defeat, while Eureka seeks to continue its early-season momentum.

Fans can follow the action on EC 103.1, with Matthew Swan and Drew Danehl on the call. Live stats and a live stream will be available at eurekareddevils.com.

Spartan Scouting Report: Aurora (1-2, 0-1 NACC) enters this week following a narrow defeat at home against Benedictine. Despite leading 35-17 late in the third quarter, the Spartans surrendered 19 unanswered points to drop their first conference game since 2018. Quarterback Tyler Adkins still impressed even in defeat, throwing for 401 yards and four touchdowns, using Connor Bright (164 yards, 2 TDs) and Trey Urwiler (145 yards, 2 TDs) as his top targets.

The Spartans' passing game is one of the nation's best, averaging 367.3 yards per game, ranking ninth in NCAA Division III. However, Aurora's running game has struggled, averaging just 41.7 yards per game, the 14th fewest in Division III. The Spartans tallied just 35 yards on 25 carries against Benedictine over the weekend. Defensively, Aurora allowed 462 yards and 22 first downs while forcing only one turnover in its NACC opener.

Turnovers have been a factor in Aurora's early-season losses, with the Spartans giving up seven total (five interceptions, two fumbles) in their two losses this season. For Eureka to succeed, forcing turnovers will be critical.

Red Devil Spotlight: Eureka (2-1, 1-0 NACC) opened conference play with a statement 40-20 win at Rockford. Quarterback Daryus Warren completed 16-of-23 passes for 249 yards and four touchdowns, connecting on big plays with Omarion Carter (70-yard TD) and Bryan Humes (65-yard TD). Ronnie Sanders led the ground game with 109 yards and two touchdowns on just 12 carries, while the defense recovered three fumbles and saw Micah Gilcrest add a late interception.

Warren now has 581 passing yards and six touchdowns on the season, while Sanders leads the rushing attack with 192 yards and two scores. Carter and Humes each made an impact as big-play threats in the passing game last week and will look to build on that success moving forward. On defense, Jovon Gibson and Gilcrest each have an interception, and Ethan Paulat anchors the defensive front with a team-high three sacks.

Eureka is averaging 324.0 yards of total offense per game while allowing 301.3. They have been very balanced between the run and the pass, averaging 182.0 yards through the air and 119.3 yards on the ground. Getting off to a strong start on Saturday night will be crucial to energize the home crowd and set the tone as the Red Devils face their toughest test of the season.

Looking Ahead: Following Saturday night's matchup, Eureka travels to Concordia Chicago for another NACC contest on Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. The Cougars are off to a 2-1 start but are 0-1 in conference play after a home loss to St. Norbert.
