Red Devils Fall on the Road at Concordia Chicago

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Eureka football team couldn't overcome a high-powered Concordia Chicago offense on Saturday afternoon, falling 49-20 in NACC play at Concordia Stadium.

The Cougars struck early in the opening quarter when Joron Brown broke loose for a 23-yard touchdown run. Concordia Chicago then used the passing game to take control in the second. Colton Bosch connected with Wesley Jackson for a 6-yard score just six seconds into the quarter, then later found Korey Randle on a 53-yard strike. Bosch added another touchdown pass to Joron Brown, and the Cougars went into halftime with a 28-0 lead.

After the break, Bosch continued his strong performance, tossing two more touchdown passes, a 15-yard strike to Kevon Lawson and a 51-yard connection with Jackson, as the Cougars built a 42-6 advantage heading into the final quarter. Jakob Redmond capped the CUC scoring with a 1-yard rushing touchdown early in the fourth.

Eureka's offense found its rhythm in the second half. Freshman quarterback Rudolph Jones Jr. (Miami, Fla./Miami Edison) threw three touchdown passes, hitting Omarion Carter (Miami Gardens, Fla./Carol City) for a 27-yard score in the third quarter, then connecting with DeVayne Isom (Hawthorne, Nev./Mineral County) on a 23-yard strike and Jeremiah Washington (Chicago, Ill./Richards) on a 16-yard pass in the fourth. Milan Mosley (Chicago, Ill./Richards) added a successful two-point conversion reception to cap the scoring for the Red Devils.

Eureka finished with 184 total yards, including 156 through the air. Jones Jr. went 9-for-31 for 154 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Carter led the receivers with 57 yards and a touchdown on three receptions, while Isom and Washington also hauled in scores.
