CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Dakota Bennington (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian H.S./Olivet Nazarene) scored 17 points and Austin Juergens (Pekin, Ill./Pekin H.S.) followed with 12, but Eureka came up short in a 79-44 exhibition decision at NCAA Division I Eastern Illinois, Saturday night at Lantz Arena in Charleston, Ill.

Alex Wiegand (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S.) hauled down eight rebounds and Hank Thomas (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods H.S.) distributed six assists. Bennington tallied four of the Red Devils' eight steals.

Eureka will open its 41st NCAA Division III season on Saturday, Nov. 10 in a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against Monmouth at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center.
