LAST TIME OUT:

Eureka is coming off a hard-fought 102-90 loss at Blackburn on Saturday afternoon, a game that featured multiple momentum swings and several strong pushes from the Red Devils.

Eureka opened the game with sharp offensive execution, jumping out to an early 11-6 lead as Andrew Coker and Jaxson Provost accounted for all 11 points. Blackburn responded with an 11-0 run after the first media timeout to take control, eventually building a double-digit advantage and carrying a 54-43 lead into halftime.

The Beavers extended the margin to as many as 16 points early in the second half, but Eureka continued to battle. The Red Devils trimmed the deficit multiple times and eventually grabbed a brief lead midway through the half, highlighted by timely buckets and free throws from Provost, Coker, Micah Bruer, and Jacob Gonzalez.

After tying the game at 69-69 and briefly retaking the lead at 72-71, Eureka stayed within striking distance late, cutting the deficit to just two points with under five minutes remaining. Blackburn, however, closed the contest on a decisive 13-0 run to pull away.

Provost led all scorers with 28 points on an efficient 8-of-13 shooting night, going a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc while adding three assists and two steals. Coker followed with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and five rebounds. Jonah Lauff provided a spark off the bench with 11 points, while Ben Carter and Max Richardson each added 10 points, with Carter grabbing a team-high nine rebounds. Bruer contributed six points, five assists, and two steals.

MUW LAST TIME OUT:

MUW enters Thursday's contest riding momentum after a 78-75 SLIAC victory over Lyon at home. The win marked the Owls' third straight conference victory and moved them into a share of second place in the league standings.

The contest featured 11 ties and 15 lead changes, with neither team leading by more than single digits throughout the game. In the final 30 seconds, Tray Huguley knocked down two clutch free throws to give MUW the lead for good before Tyler Shephard sealed the win at the line.

Shephard led the Owls with a game-high 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting, while Huguley recorded his sixth double double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Joe Haze Austin added 15 points and five assists, helping MUW improve to 5-0 at home this season.

MUW has now won five of its last seven games and enters the matchup with a 6-6 overall record and a 3-1 mark in SLIAC play.

SERIES HISTORY:

The teams met three times last season, splitting the regular season meetings with each team winning on its home court before Eureka eliminated MUW in the SLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals. Eureka is 3-0 all-time at home against the Owls and will look to maintain that trend on Thursday night.

KEYS TO THE GAME:

Limiting high-percentage shots will be critical for Eureka, as MUW enters the contest ranked No. 1 nationally in field goal percentage at 53.6 percent. Forcing tough looks and securing defensive rebounds will be essential to slowing down the Owls' efficient offense.

Rebounding will once again play a decisive role. The Red Devils are undefeated this season when they out-rebound their opponents and winless when they are outworked on the glass, making control of the boards a major emphasis.

Foul management could also be a factor. MUW ranks second nationally in fewest fouls per game and plays with a short rotation of just nine players. If Eureka can apply pressure and force foul trouble, it could shift the balance late.

Keeping Tray Huguley in check will be another focal point. The sophomore forward ranks among the national leaders in double doubles and leads the SLIAC in rebounding while sitting second in scoring. Limiting his production inside will be key for Eureka's defensive game plan.

LOOKING AHEAD:

Eureka will continue its homestand on Saturday afternoon, hosting Lyon at 3:00 p.m. as SLIAC play rolls on.
