Eureka Falls in SLIAC Clash with Webster

EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka men's soccer team was held scoreless on Wednesday night, falling 4-0 to Webster in SLIAC play at McKinzie Field.

The Gorloks (3-4-1, 1-0 SLIAC) struck first in the 14th minute when Alberto Duque Gonzalez put the visitors in front. Eureka (4-6-2, 0-1-1 SLIAC) nearly equalized just before halftime, but the Red Devils' penalty kick was saved with six seconds remaining, keeping it a 1-0 match at the break.

Webster capitalized after halftime, pulling away with three goals in the final 30 minutes. Scott Price doubled the lead in the 62nd minute, Juan Ignacio Martins Ferreira added another in the 69th, and Blake Cain closed the scoring in the 86th.

Sebastian Torres (Fort Worth, Texas/Castleberry) started in goal for the Red Devils, recording 10 saves across 85 minutes of action before giving way late.

Offensively, Eureka generated seven shots, including two on target from Pascal Calonges (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) and a long range from Tristan Martinez (Flowery Branch, Ga./Cherokee Bluff) that was denied the crossbar.
