Maxine Najera Earns SLIAC Player of the Week Honors

EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka's Maxine Najera (Riverside, Calif./Hillcrest) has been selected St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for women's basketball.

Najera scored 31 points and brought down 24 rebounds this week, as she helped guide the Eureka women's basketball team to a 2-1 record on the week. On Wednesday, Najera recorded an 11 point and 11 rebound double-double in a close loss against Illinois Tech. On Friday, she scored 10 points and added 7 rebounds in just 15 minutes of playing time as she helped the Red Devils dominate Mount Mary 81-37. She ended the week on Sunday with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals, playing a key role in a 63-47 win over Monmouth.

Najera and the Red Devils are back in action tomorrow at 12:00 p.m., when Beloit comes to town. The Red Devils will be seeking their third straight win.
