FIRST MEETING BREAKDOWN:
The Red Devils opened the first matchup with strong energy, scoring the game's first basket and defending well early. Kayla Collins provided an offensive spark in the first quarter with two three-pointers, while Courtney Hart established a presence inside. Eureka remained within striking distance during portions of the first half and went into the break trailing 51-35 after a late basket from Lailah Hadley.
Lyon created separation in the third quarter by capitalizing on second-chance opportunities and interior scoring. Despite the deficit, Eureka finished the game with one of its best stretches of defense, closing on a 9-0 run and holding the Scots scoreless over the final four minutes. Collins led the Red Devils with 19 points in the contest, Hart recorded a double double with 12 points and 16 rebounds, and Hadley added 12 points, eight boards, and five assists in a well-rounded performance.
LAST TIME OUT:
Eureka is coming off a 61-41 road loss at Westminster. The Red Devils showed fight in the early minutes and again in the second half, trimming the deficit to ten points in the fourth quarter before a late Blue Jay run put the game out of reach. Hadley and Collins paced Eureka with 11 points each, and the team showed better rhythm offensively after halftime while competing on the defensive end.
Building offensive consistency remains a focus. When the Red Devils are able to string together stops and push in transition, they have shown the ability to stay within reach. Sustaining that level across four quarters will be key in Thursday's rematch.
SCOUTING LYON:
Lyon enters following a narrow 64-62 loss at Webster in a game that featured multiple lead changes down the stretch. The Scots have the ability to score in bursts and apply defensive pressure, particularly when their perimeter shooters find rhythm. They combine outside shooting with a strong interior presence, making them effective both in transition and in half-court sets.
Natalya Kaza leads the Scots offensively and is one of the conference's top scorers, capable of impacting the game from beyond the arc and at the free throw line. Molly Mason provides efficiency inside, while Savanna Lopez anchors the paint with rebounding and shot blocking.
LOOKING AHEAD:
Following Thursday's contest, Eureka remains on the road and will travel to MUW on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip to conclude the trip.
