Red Devils Drop Road Duals at Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Eureka wrestling teams competed in a pair of duals at Illinois Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon, with the women falling 32-6 and the men dropping a 33-20 decision.

The women's dual opened the afternoon, with Ahleia Young earning Eureka's first five points via forfeit at 138 pounds. Randi Campe fell by pin in 0:50 at 145, while Jaylah Campbell was defeated by tech fall in 1:03 at 160. Madison Farris battled in an 8-4 decision to claim Eureka's final point at 180 before Krisean Buchana picked up a win in an exhibition bout by tech fall in 3:27.

The men's dual featured several momentum swings, highlighted by a stretch of three straight Red Devil victories in the middle weights. Tristan Mosack dropped a match by fall in 2:32 at 133, and Trevor Hedges was forced to end his day early with an injury at 141. Tanner Finin put Eureka on the board with a win by tech fall in 6:43 at 149, followed by an 11-6 win by decision from Billy Tucker at 157. Alex Muhammad capped the run with a pin in 2:00 at 165. Sargent Maubach battled to a sudden victory loss, 5-2, at 174, while Tyren Moore (184) and Patrick Fields (197) each lost by fall. Weston Swise closed the dual with a forfeit win at 285.

The Red Devils return to tournament action this weekend. The men travel to Iowa for the Central Open on Friday at 9 a.m. in Pella before competing at the Dubuque Open on Saturday at 9 a.m. in Dubuque. The women head to the D3 Invite in Rock Island, Ill., on Saturday and Sunday, with action beginning at 9 a.m. both days.
