Tucker’s Runner-Up Finish Paces Red Devils in Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Eureka men's wrestling team competed Sunday at the Dubuque Brown Terrell Invite, squaring off against a competitive field as the Red Devils continued preparations for the postseason.

Billy Tucker turned in the top performance of the day for Eureka at 149 pounds, earning a second-place finish. Tucker opened his tournament with a tech fall victory in 4:17, then added back-to-back decision wins, 12-8 and 10-3, to advance through the bracket. He capped his strong run with a runner-up finish after falling by pin in the championship match.

At 174 pounds, Sargent Maubach put together multiple wins in a busy bracket. He opened with a 5-3 decision win, later added a tech fall victory at 6:45, and battled in a tight 4-1 decision loss. His day also included a tech fall defeat earlier in the tournament.

Brandon Garner represented Eureka at 133 pounds. After receiving a bye, Garner dropped his next match by tech fall before bouncing back with a pin in 1:03. He later lost by fall in 4:03 in his final bout.

Josiah Morones competed at 184 pounds and split his matches on the day. Following a bye, Morones was pinned in 6:04, responded with a fall of his own at 6:14, and later dropped his final match by fall in 2:07.

At 165 pounds, Landyn Williams opened with a strong 10-8 decision victory after a bye. He later fell by pin in 43 seconds and closed his tournament with a tech fall loss.

Patrick Fields wrestled at 197 pounds, earning a fall in 5:54 during his run. After a bye to start, Fields was pinned in his next match, rebounded with his win by fall, and later was defeated by tech fall in 3:20.

The Dubuque Brown Terrell Invite provided another competitive opportunity for the Red Devils as they continue to build momentum heading into the final stretch.
