Late Goals Lift Eureka Past Maranatha Baptist

EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka women's soccer team struck twice late to secure a 3-1 victory over Maranatha Baptist in Saturday's senior day matchup.

Eureka (2-4-0) opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Melanie Lopez (Aurora, Ill./East Aurora) found the back of the net for her first career goal off a pass from Ella Mohebbi (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch). Maranatha Baptist (0-5-0) responded in the 26th minute with a goal from Amelia Schroeder to level the match ahead of the halftime break.

Just two minutes later, Byers set up Daphne Collette (Murray, Utah/Murray) for a third goal to seal the win for the Red Devils.
