Cross Country Competes at UIS Prairie Stars Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Eureka Cross Country team travelled to Springfield on Friday evening to compete at the UIS Prairie Stars Invitational.

On the men's side, Junior Bailey Webster (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) delivered another strong performance, setting a Eureka College 7k School Record with a time of 24:16.36. Senior Tony DeLira (Chicago, Ill./Alcott) finished just behind Webster once again with a time of 24:56.85. Jose Amador (Kempton, Ill./Tri-Point) and Tucker Williamson (Monticello, Ill./Monticello) were the next two finishers for the Red Devils with times of 28:35.59 and 28:57.83, respectively. Michael Beaumont (Greenup, Ill./Cumberland) finished with a time of 29:57.71, setting a new personal record (PR) in the 7k and improving by 1:12 from his previous PR. Kristoffer Collins-Brown (Decatur, Ill./Unity Christian) and Hayden Skaggs (Mansfield, Texas/Mansfield) rounded out the field for the Red Devils with times of 33:30.30 and 38:10.75, respectively.

The Red Devil men finished ninth overall with 275 points. 

On the women's side, junior Rachel Fisher (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) made a strong return to cross country after missing the 2023 season, finishing with a time of 22:21.22 in the 5k. Emily Baker (Washington, Ill./Washington) improved her 5k time by nearly 40 seconds from last weekend, recording a time of 23:42.08. Isabella Carbajal (Chicago, Ill./Shepard) was the next finisher for Eureka, coming in with a time of 26:48.21, which is over 2 minutes faster than her time from last weekend. Odessa Grove (Lewistown, Ill./Lewistown) rounded out the field on the women's side with a time of 29:00.37, shaving over 3 minutes off her time from the same race in 2023.

The Red Devils now have two weeks off before heading to Peoria for the Bradley Intercollegiate on Friday, Sep. 20 at 5:15 p.m. The meet will serve as the Red Devils' Senior Day.
