Glover Breaks School Record as Red Devils Shine at Greenville Classic

GREENVILLE, Ill. – Freshman Cole Glover (Hopkinsville, Ky./University Heights) set a new Eureka College 8K record at the Greenville Classic this weekend, leading the Red Devils to a strong showing that featured four personal records.

Glover led the way with a second-place overall finish, claiming the top spot among SLIAC competitors and breaking the Eureka 8K school record with a time of 26:18.29. His performance paced a day of fast times and strong efforts across the Red Devils' lineup.

Senior Bailey Webster (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) turned in a strong performance as well, finishing 18th overall with a time of 27:52.58, giving Eureka a potent 1-2 punch at the front of the field. Senior Jose Amador (Kempton, Ill./Tri-Point) followed with a strong effort, crossing the line in 33:05.31 and positioning himself well for the upcoming conference meet.

The Red Devils also received key contributions from men's soccer players Michael Beaumont (Greenup, Ill./Cumberland) and Britton Batson (Springfield, Tenn./Innovation Academy of Robertson County). Beaumont, competing for the second straight year, finished in 33:43.39, while Batson, making his cross country debut, recorded a personal-best 33:56.49.

Freshman Evan Gillespie (Jacksonville, Ill./Jacksonville) capped the day with his best effort of the season, clocking a personal-record time of 37:35.31.

On the women's side, junior Zoe Stoecker (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) turned in a breakout performance, finishing the 5K in 25:55.95, a personal record by more than two minutes.

With cooler temperatures and overcast skies providing the ideal racing conditions, the Red Devils left with momentum heading into the SLIAC Championship meet.
