Football Falls to No. 14 Aurora on Senior Night

EUREKA, Ill. – The Red Devils struggled in rainy conditions on Senior Night, falling 56-0 to No. 14 Aurora.

Aurora struck quickly, scoring touchdowns on their first four drives. This early dominance gave the Spartans a 26-0 lead by the second quarter. They added two more touchdowns late in the first half, extending their lead to 40-0 at halftime. Eureka's defense showed improvement in the second half, limiting Aurora to just two more touchdowns. The Spartans added a safety just before time expired to secure the 56-0 victory.

Beverson Noel (Lake Worth, Fla./Santaluces) recorded a career-high 9 tackles for Eureka, including 7 solo stops. Derrick Peyton Jr. (West Seattle, Wash./O'dea) also set a career-high with 7 tackles, all solo. Brandon Inaccus (Lake Worth, Fla./Santaluces) forced the Red Devils' only turnover of the day, recovering a fumble early in the third quarter to halt a promising Spartan drive.

On offense, Daniel Parhams (Columbus, Ga./Hardaway) made his second consecutive start at quarterback, but an injury forced him out of the game. Freshman Ethan Velazquez (Chicago, Ill./Prosser) took over at quarterback for Eureka, making his collegiate debut.

Jayden Crowder (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier) led the Red Devils with 9 carries for 16 yards, while Jack Butler (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) paced the team in receiving with 2 catches for 10 yards.

Before the game, Eureka honored its three seniors: Kaeden Frazier (Clarkston, Wash./Clarkston), Mondrel Boykins (Tunica, Miss./Rosa Fort), and Angel Garcia (Elgin, Ill./Larkin). Saturday marked their final game at McKinzie Field. Although injuries kept Frazier and Garcia sidelined for this game and much of the season, Frazier will finish his career 11th in program history in passing yards with 2,327, while Garcia will conclude his career 15th in program history in rushing yards with 1,024.
