Defense Fuels Eureka’s 53-34 Road Victory at Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Eureka men's basketball team appeared on the road on Saturday afternoon to take on Spalding in a SLIAC battle. Behind a strong defensive effort and balanced scoring, the Red Devils controlled the game from start to finish and earned a 53-34 road win.

Eureka jumped out to an early lead as Ben Carter (Morton, Ill./Morton) knocked down a pair of three-pointers and Jaxon Provost (Kankakee, Ill./Bishop McNamara) capitalized on turnovers for easy baskets in the paint. Micha Bruer (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) added perimeter scoring and playmaking, while Andrew Coker (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) and Max Richardson (LaHarpe, Ill./Illini West) helped control the glass. The Red Devils used a late run, highlighted by another Carter triple and a Provost finish, to carry a 31-25 lead into halftime.

Eureka took full control after the break, opening the half with defensive stops that turned into scoring chances for Provost and Coker. Jacob Gonzalez (Los Angeles, Calif./Chatsworth Charter) provided energy off the bench with finishes inside and trips to the free throw line, while Damuzha Moore (Champaign, Ill./Urbana) contributed key rebounds and free throws during a decisive run. The Red Devils held Spalding to just nine points in the half, stretching the lead to as many as 19 before closing out the 53-34 victory.
