Red Devils Sweep Pool Play at NCVF Championships
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Eureka men's volleyball team opened play at the NCVF Division II Championships in dominant fashion, winning all three matches in pool play to finish first in Group G on Thursday.
Eureka began the day with back-to-back sweeps, defeating Saint Mary's (Calif.) 25-14, 25-11 before taking down South Dakota State 25-20, 25-18. The Red Devils closed out pool play with a hard-fought three-set victory over Sacred Heart, winning 25-18, 20-25, 15-12. Sacred Heart entered the tournament receiving votes in the latest NCVF Division II Top 25 Poll.
With the unbeaten showing, Eureka advances to Championship Power Pool S, where it will face No. 15 Parker and the winner of Michigan Tech and San Francisco. The Red Devils are scheduled to take on the Michigan Tech/San Francisco winner at 2 p.m. before closing out power pool play against Parker at 4 p.m. on Friday.
The top two teams from Championship Power Pool S will advance to the gold bracket and the final 16 teams competing for a national championship on Saturday, while the third-place finisher will move into the silver bracket.
